Hey everyone! Been a while since I posted something and the birth of my third girl (just fitting in) is something I should post about. 😅
Evelyn Rose Johnston
Born 9:13pm on June 17th 2015
7lbs 1oz
Little one had a rough start but is as healthy as a baby horse and making everyone exercise their awwww muscles.
Birth story:
We got to the hospital at 12 noon and Mel didn't get started on her meds until 3pm as we waited for a birthing room. Good ok' Utah, babies,babies,babies.... Anyway, things went fine untilntheybtook her off the meds for her body to kick in, she stopped progressing and we started seeing big drops in Evie's heart rate every time Mel had a contraction. They started her meds again around 6pm and she started progressing further but the heart rate drops continued. FINALLY she was ready and she started pushing. Saving you of course from the details.... I mean really, most of you have seen it and the rest have heard enough that I'm sure your imagination can take over if you wish.
However when she was born I was not only scared out of my hair ( The baldness continues) but impressed with the skills of everyone there. Evie was out, cord clamped and cut, and on the table getting worked on in less than a minute. She wasnt breathing and was like a limp human shaped noodle. I said a quick prayer asking Heavenly Father to bless Evie and Mel, told Mel everything was going to be ok and jumped over between Mel and the warming table. I immediately had a sense of comfort and I knew that everything was going to be ok. They worked on Evie for several minutes to get her breathing on her own. It took about 15 min for her to start moving her arms and legs. She then got to see Mel for 15 min but they noticed she had labored breathing and took her to be on a CPAP machine for an hour. After that things were awesome and she continues to be a blessing in our lives.

Wish we could see her soon. Maybe in Oct! She looks so cute and we are glad she's doing ok now. Love you all.
Way to go Mel! Great job. Thanks for posting Bippy--really appreciate the pictures and the narrative. Evie is a cute nickname for Evelyn, kinda goes with the cute little girl. And her sisters look like they are bonding already! You are all in our prayers, but especially little Evie. Love you all.

Hi, this question is for Mel.
Did you have heartburn? I heard that the same hormone that causes heartburn also causes hair growth thus resulting in the affliction to the mother during pregnancy. If you could attest to or deny this tid-bit of info that would be very helpful.
Many thanks,
Peter
Also, congrats! You made a human!
Peter, my grandma always said that if you had heartburn during pregnacy, your baby would have a lot of hair. I remember only having heartburn with Greg and he wasn't hairy.
Thanks for posting this! Keeping you guys in our prayers! Little Evie is just perfect, can't wait to meet her in person!
Love you guys!
So cute! Glad she is healthy and doing so well. She looks like her cute sisters!
Are you guys calling her Evie?!? That is the cutest nickname!! :D I just wanted to make sure to check with you, because if I get in the habit of calling her Evie, then you don't want her called that... well, let's just say, I still spell Bippe with an "e", and that's never gonna change, soooooo...
Peter, yes Mel had heartburn regularly with all of our girls. All of them started with good amounts of hair which they obviously didn't get from me ;-)
Yes her nickname for now is Evie, but should could also be a weirdo and go by her middle name.....I mean who does that? ;-)
