I'm in Las Vegas this week for my annual work conference, but I wanted to share.  I'm feeling very blessed.

After years of research, inquiry and prayer, Khai will be getting a cochlear implant in his left ear (which he doesn't benefit from at all currently).  We let him decide and he wants to do it.  His anatomical disability is such that it is an incalculable guess whether it will help him or not, but there isn't much down side to trying.

Unfortunately, our Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance believes only hearing half way is good enough, so they won't help cover costs at all.  However, Michigan has a service, called Children's Special Health Care Services, which is used to help families with special needs for a minimum monthly payment ($30/mo). CSHCS has been helping us with costs for years, and they have now approved to cover the ENTIRE cost of the operation, device, training and materials!  (We were told it is about $100,000 over the next 2 years).

I'm feeling very blessed.

Oh, Mark, this brought tears to my eyes! Our family has been blessed in so many ways, and the blessings just don't stop. Every time Dad and I think how can we keep going in the service we are needed to do, then something like this for you happens and we know (as Dad says so often) one can never get ahead of the Lord!
And the little stinker didn't say a word to me when he called yesterday! To be fair - he just wanted to get the homework interview assignment done!

You should video him when he gets it in and hears for the first time! Because we are going to assume this will work. Positive thinking!
