NEWS

The good news - Dad came back from UAE Fri. Bad news - he came home very sick. He is now in the Hannibal Hospital for three days minimum with blood clots in both lungs and residual pneumonia. When I picked him up in Chicago, he was extremely sick with a high fever and could hardly breathe. He's been sick the whole time he was over there - in fact when he came home in Apr. he was coughing. We stayed in a motel Fri night and then drove on home Sat. By the time we got here he was so sick he had me call our home teacher for a blessing (so you know how sick he was!). But I had called last Thurs his dr while I was in Michigan and had set an appt for Mon morning (today) and so I couldn't get him to go to the urgent care. Blessedly, we have a good dr. who was very thorough and after x-rays, lung capacity test, blood test, ekg, and ct scan, the dr's suspicions were confirmed - pulmonary embollisms. Tonight they are going to do an ultrasound on his legs to see if there are any clots there (most of these lung clots start in the legs). His ekg showed some problem with the ischemic(?) part of the heart, probably caused by the embollisms. But the dr wanted to be sure, so they are also going to do an echocardiogram also.
Randy Saxbury gave him the blessing and it was only his 2nd or 3rd time, so was a very humble experience and he said "Your Heavenly Father loves you and he wants you to know you will get well." So I am not as worried as I was before the blessing. Keep him in your prayers, as I suspect you already do! Love you all!

Peter and I will be going to the temple Thursday evening-- we'll put his name on the prayer list. Is it just from all the flying do they think?

Yes, the bllod clots are most surely from the 14-15 hour flight. When the dr said Dad had to go to the hospital , Dad says ok, overnight. The dr. said 3 days at least. Later, Dad said 2 days, right? The dr said no 3! It was so funny - negotiating for a shorter stay:)

just remind him that if he stays the full 3 days than we get to spend more time with him in the long run. if i know anything about dad is that he loves his family and wants to be with us all.
