Here's our favorite playdough recipe.
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
food coloring
1 cup flour
Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a sauce pan and heat until warm. Remove from heat and add flour. Stir, then kneed until smooth. Don't leave out the cream of tartar. It is what makes it long lasting.
Store in an airtight container or ziplock bag. Do not refrigerate
This dough will last up to six months or longer.
Our kids love it and it entertains them for hours.

It really lasts a long time. It's texture is very similar to the Playdough brand.
