I just listened to Elder Holland's conference talk he gave Sat afternoon session. We, of course, missed it because of Grandma's funeral. The message was amazing - I've often wondered about the full significance of the parable of the laborers. And the way Elder Holland delivers his messages are always so heartfelt. Reading it is great, but listening is even better.

It is an amazing talk! I love how prophets and apostles can change the way we think of scriptures. I think of how Elder Bednar forever changed, "the tender mercies of the Lord", for me. I love how Elder Holland pointed out how the laborers that were there all day were free from worry and could just work. What a great thought. I had taught that parable and now think, "man, I owe the church money back"..... I won't pay them back, I am just saying.... but now I understand that parable.
Here is a short 3:30 minute clip of the talk that is from the youth site on lds.org. I love how they cut this. He offers such hope. When I listen to Elder Holland my heart rejoices. This is what the gospel is really all about.

I would have to say that this was one of my favorites from conference. Rachel had a fun time with a game created for the youth by the primary. It was called General conferenceopoly and she had a lot of fun with it. This talk definitely changed the way I saw this parable.......such an amazing blessing to have a living prophet and apostles who we get to hear from often and apply those minor changes to our lives, ways of thinking keeping us on the straight and narrow.
This was my favorite talk (among many) of this conference. It was just what I needed to hear a few days before my intern interview. With so many girls going for positions, I was so nervous, but when Elder Holland started talking about not being envious of other people's blessings, it hit home that it would be okay if I didn't get an internship because I could still be really happy for my friends who did.
This is a story about God’s goodness, His patience and forgiveness, and the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a story about generosity and compassion.
It is a story about grace.
It underscores the thought I heard many years ago that surely the thing God enjoys most about being God is the thrill of being merciful, especially to those who don’t expect it and often feel they don’t deserve it.
thanks mom for putting this up. we got to watch it at conference and it helped me then but getting to watch it tonight was just what i needed and seemed to hit home even more since this last week or so. i love elder holland he is such an amazing speaker. i hope i get to see him in person again someday.
To me the grace part stands out. i don't know if its because i rarely hear the word or the it implies such divinity with being so sweet and peaceful all at the same time. I just keep thinking, "man i needed to hear that".
I think i will be going to bed with the song "count your blessings, name them one by one"
love shannon
Such a beautiful talk. Reminds me a lot of Pres. Benson's "Beware of Pride" talk.
Isn't it awesome to have this resource where at the touch of a button we can hear any conference talk we want? Heather and I are getting more and more out of lds.org every day!
