How'd you know I was thinking this! Congrats - who would have ever thought we'd have all of these girls in the Gibbons family!

YAYA CONGRATS GUYS! this is so awesome getting another baby in the family. i think you guys should name her trixie! its cute and great to yell when your calling her! (i know you all just did it in your head!!! MUAHAHA)

ok anyway i think maybe it should start with a T. that way when you have the kids fist initials put together in order of age it will be T J J T. lol i don't knw i am very odd. maybe a kelly?

Scott votes:

Jaquinda Holiecia Felicium Bob

"It's much funnier if you say it out loud."

Scott says:

"At least it is for the people around you."

I totally pictured myself yelling Trixie in my head! Haha

Many will enter, few will win.

It looks like Congrats is winning so far. I guess that's an easy one to yell out, but Leighann thinks it's not very feminine

Leighann says "I like vintage names. You should go hang out in a nursing home and see which names stand out in the halls"

Aaron said...

That idea also works if she comes out looking like one of those "old people" babies. You know, with tons of wrinkles? Then she may TOTALLY look like an Edna, Mable, Marge, etc

Heather Hemmert said...

I didn't yell out Trixie in my head, but I didn't picture calling a dog to you named Trixie....

And the suspense DID kill Roy and I because when we first read this post, it was on his phone, so we had to scroll down forever to see it! haha it was awesome

I like the idea of a T name. I googled girl names that start with T and the first one that came up was Taffy....what has the world come to...
But here are some others (assuming you like the whole T thing): Tracy, Tammy (or Tami), Tamryn, Taryn, Tatiana, Taytum, Teresa, and my personal favorite, Tashaynta.

Ricki said...

I like Tatiana, but Russian first name with an Irish last name's a little weird.

Shannon said...

There is also talia, tamora, tabitha (tabby for short), and trula.

It sounds like Shannon likes the names which also go well with pets. Guess it's a good thing she is married to a future veterinarian! :D

You can't name her Taryn. Every Taryn I have ever known is... well... don't name her Taryn.

Tess is a cool, vintage name I like that starts with a T. Also, we have an Aunt Tammy that would probably be thrilled to have a baby take on her name :D We've known some pretty cool Trudy's as well.

I like:
Sadie: Very popular decades ago, this name is regaining favor with today's parents. It is a Hebrew name and means "princess."

Heather said...

These are all awesome suggestions! I love my family!

Yeah Heather and I tend to like older, traditional names that can also have cute kiddie names. (Thomas-Tommy, Jane-Janie, Jack-"Jack-Jack")

Sadie is cute, so is Tracy. Man, for some reason this time around it seems so much harder to pick a name!

leighann how are any of the names i suggested dog names? i literally sat here and used all the names in a dog talking scenario (yes i am that weird) and i just don't "hear it". all well.
just as a question are any of the people who don't have kids yet praying no one says they like the name you want? lol its one of those risks where if you say don't name them this and then by mentioning it they end up loving it? just kind of wondering.

so i guess one thing we should ask before we start blurting out names is besides liking traditional names do you have anything else to go on, like letters, or sounds that you like?

Magi said...

I like the sound of "tutuing".... can you make a name that sounds like that? Sounds?.... really Shannon! :) (Love ya Shannon)

We also like traditional names obviously. I just got done teaching the Old Testament, so I thought of Esther. I like that name. Magi has never liked it. I also like the name Abi (Abigail), I think because it reminds me of Magi! Lola would be cool....and old..... it is Emma's middle name, not sure how good it would be as a first name. It makes me smile to think of Grandma.

Magi says, Leah (I also really like that). She says, "I think I only really like the name Leah right now."

Also- did you guys all see that Jodi, Magi's sister, just had a baby boy and named him Falcor. Yeah...... so even a Trixie can grow on you! Or you can name her Tutu! Oh Wait, Gasius.... But is that too masculine?

Gwen said...

Scott says:

"Well if its traditional you want, how about Ealenor (Ellie for short) or Evelyn (Eve or Evie for short)?"

Gwen said...

Scott says:

"Though I still prefer Jaquinda Holiecia Felicium Bob."

Aaron said...

Shannon has been dithering since this post first went up.

"should I say that i always wanted abigail for my daughter's name? I've always loved that name, and i want to claim it, but what if i say it and they really like it for themselves?"

So please, for our sake (especially shannon's), don't pick Abigail!

Shannon said...

ha ha .... haaa tom, i MEANT sounds like "i.e." or "ou" sounding names. love you too tom.

Eleanor is pretty, i like the nick name ellie.

and hush aaron you love that name too, can't blame it ALL on me!

Oh, and scott, I like your idea. We can't let mark+van hog all the ethnicity in this otherwise Wonderbread family!

You have to admit it - all of my children have wonderful senses of humor!

Cute atricle just today on the LDS Meridian online magazine - "Naming your LDS baby".http://ldsmag.com/church/article/10984?ac=1

Heather Hemmert said...

Haha I love you Aaron. Wonderbread family...

I really like the names Scott suggested as well (the second time). There's an Elly in my el ed major with me and she's the sweetest girl ever.

Shannon, if you use Abigail, will you use the nick name Abby? There's a name I love that would have a similar nick name (I don't want to chance putting it on here in case someone else loves it too...) and it'd be cute for our girls to be similar.
See how I'm turning this into focusing on those who don't have kids yet? Sorry David and Heather!

Peter and I don't care that Scott and Gwen already have a Sarah, we plan on naming a daughter Sarah if we ever have a little girl. Peter is convinced we will have all little boys, but you never know.

We want to name a boy Thomas John Batemon, and a girl Sarah Leith Batemon. And unlike that article, we both loved the names we talked about.

I vote for eleanor and Elle for short. And if you don't pick it, I will! ( that was not an announcement)

Shannon said...

heather, yes i would use Abby. and i think i know what name your talking about. but not 100% sure.

i think we all know enough to not go taking others dream names (i say secretly planning to be the next octa-mom and steal everyones names).... so heather i promise its safe to divulge! lol.

anywho i think it would be cute too.
and i vote for Eleanor too! i think its super cute and sweet sounding.

leighann i think because there is a Tom (dad) and a Tom (brother) along with a Tommy (nephew) we might just be forced to call him thomas, or tommy b. to keep family reunion not crazy, lol. hope your cool with that! and do you think you will call your future sarah, leith? i know its from your friends name but i was just wondering if it would be like you and Dorothy?

Ricki said...

Melissa, Would the Elle be pronounced "El", like the French pronoun it's spelled as or "Ellie"? A girl at the high school is named Elle, but pronounced "Ellie" and she gets mad if you mispronounce it. Her mother obviously didn't know French and the traditional spelling for Ellie. Just an old substitute teacher ranting here!

Scott says:

"I always wanted my first son to be named Ben, but I got over-ruled by Gwen and her family where there are two Bens already (Gwen's brother and his son). Nice to see that my own family can be more open minded about sharing names. :) "

Melissa said...

I would say it like Ellie. I didn't know about the pronunciation origins.
