Well, I started my new position on Monday and after the first week I can say I'm loving it! The work is interesting, and since I am already trained in underwriting I've been able to jump right in and start helping, which has made me quite popular with the other 5 loan officers at the credit union. Its a great place to work - no labor vs management tension like my job at the call center or way back when I used to work at UPS; people seem to genuinely be glad they work there which is awesome!
We've put our house in Arlington up for sale this past week. So far three people have visited, though none seemed like a serious prospect. Gwen is wonderful keeping the house tidy and working on a huge list of details to make it more attractive (this last week she and the kids put in a flowerbed and she cleared/replanted another by herself). She's also begun packing non-essentials; I rented a storage unit in Austin and every week when I drive down there (I'm spending the weekends in Arlington) I'll take a load down in the van - hopefully that will make the move once it happens easier.
The kids continue to be excited about the move to the new city. We'll bring everyone down for a few days to Austin during the Thanksgiving weekend to look for a place to move once our house is sold and explore the city - I haven't gotten much chance to look around during my first week.
So that's the Texas-Gibbons update. Thank you all for your prayers and faith on our behalf. We've really been blessed in all of this.
