My box top obsession...

My school is doing an Olympic Box Top Competition this month, and my class (and I) want to win gold! I know most all of you have children and their schools are also probably collecting box tops as well. But if, for some reason, they aren't (or you're Leighann&Peter or Aaron&Shannon who don't have kids), and you'd like to donate box tops to my class and school to help raise money for technology, that would be awesome!
At last count, my class was in 9th place, with another one of the fifth grade classes in bronze place. That cannot be! So I've been going pretty crazy getting my friends around here to give me their box tops and now I guess my obsession is going even further because I'm asking family to mail them to me!

Mom is already sending me some (you're the best!) and a family friend of Roy's is sending me some from Wyoming too. Saesha (one of my bridesmaids) is sending some from California also. So I told my kids I was doing my part, and getting them mailed in from all over the country to help them succeed and they got super excited! I guess one of my students told my principal about this and she couldn't stop laughing about how "Quiet, reserved Mrs. Hemmert is getting so competitive about box tops." I guess I am! But it's so great to get my kids excited about something that will benefit our school (while winning a pizza party for us ;)

So yeah, if you need my address, I can email it to you, just let me know. Even just one or two helps! (And it's always fun to get snail mail from family)

Love you!

Heather

No Way! Grandma, why are you sending boxtops to help strangers kids in a state that is famous for having good families while your GRANDCHILDREN, you know, flesh and blood, your eternal heritage, your offspring, are not getting any! I say, stop! Send them to your grand childrens' school, in the heart of the suffering state of California! Family first!!!

On second thought...... I love to see the competitive juices flowing to the end of the Gibbons line.... SEND THEM ALL TO HEATHER! We will send some too, who cares about our children progressing, IT IS ON!!!

I didn't know your school collected them, Tom. I have sent in the past to Mark and Van's and Scott and Gwen's and I think at Christmas I gave to Bippy and Mel. (We actually eat a lot of cereal and with General Mills having a plant here in Hannibal, they seem to always have their brands on sale in our store.)So after Heather's competition is over, the next box tops are for your family, Tom.

Haha Tommy, you're so crazy.
I don't get competitive very often. But with this and how much I love my kids, I am getting pretty competitive. I just really want them to win something. One of the other classes in fifth grade have a bunch of really smart kids, and they were winning our Math Fact Wars competition and they beat our class in dodgeball and Capture the Flag and all that. They are ahead of us in most everything, so I want them to win something, and they do too. So they are pretty bummed that we are in 11th place, and that same class is in 2nd.

Thanks Greg! I will message you on facebook my address.

I am so glad that you know I was joking. I am not sure if mom knows I was trying to be funny. (Yes, mom, I know you are reading this!) I saw on FB how bummed you are. I think those other classes cheat!

Heather, your class beats the other class by a mile in being good, well-behaved kids!

And Tom, I did know you were kidding. But now that I know your kids school collects the boxtops, I will send some.

I was able to count up the ones mom sent me and a couple of my students brought in bagfuls of them. So after counting them again today, we have 506 box tops so far from our class! I don't know what place that puts us in now, but I've heard rumors that it will bump us up a lot!
