Jacob Update

Last Tuesday Jacob's MRI showed that the tumor on his skull has come back. They are going to be removing it again on Friday, the 24th.  They said that they are going to take out even more area around the tumor to try to keep it from regrowing. This may mean that they will have to take tissue from other parts of his body to fill in the hole. They estimate the surgery to take about seven hours.  Scott's work is being really great and allowing him to take a week off without cutting into his vacation time he will need this summer.

As far as his arm goes, we should be meeting with the doctor for that next week instead of the week after like planned because he will be in the hospital that week.  His oncologist has ordered a biopsy of it, but we don't know yet if the tumor doctor will take off the whole thing or just do a biopsy first.

We could really use your prayers.

This is so heartbreaking. I can't imagine what it is like for you all. You all will be in our prayers.

We put Jacob's and both you and Scott's name in the Nauvoo temple last Sat. Every morning and night we pray for you.
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about how you said in a blessing Scott gave him Jacob was told he would go on a mission. Have you seen the movie 17 Miracles? In it a child thought to be dead, the mother's faith in a blessing that said they all would make it to Zion, saved the daughter. Our faith in that blessing is going to make everything ok, I know it.

I am going to stop by the St. Louis Temple tomorrow after dropping Ricki off at the airport to do an endowment session and put Jacob's name in the temple once again. We love you all so much and are especially mindful of Jacob at this time. Dad

I am sorry to hear about this. It seems to me that Jacob, like the prophet Joseph, is just wont to swim in deep waters. I am sure Jacob, as well as Scott and Gwen, will handle the whole trial with the same class, faith and determination that they continually show in these many trials. We will be praying for you all and will put your names in the Redlands temple when we go next week. We love you and are so proud of the way you move forward in faith.

The trip to the St. Louis Temple was so special for two reasons--Jacob's name (along with a few others) was placed on the Prayer Roll and the Temple has a NEW, new film that is absolutely stunning. I am going to refer to is as the "Gold Film" when, once you have seen it, you will understand why. It is incredible. I have thought that the 'new film' was twice as good as the old, until I saw this one--it is twice as good as the new one and really brings the Spirit in such a powerful way. Maybe I was just being extra thoughtful, since Jacob was so much on my mind, but I hope you all get to see it soon. Love you all. Dad
