Fort Irwin

Sorry! Looks like feast or famine on the blog. I just happened to have something to post the same time everyone else did!

I took the scouts, and so our wonderful kids got to go too, on a tour of Fort Irwin. WOW! It was so great! They even put us on their facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/National-Training-CenterFort-Irwin/124941344210951#!/pages/National-Training-CenterFort-Irwin/124941344210951
We were amazed that the men serving us were thanking us for going on a tour!
Being there really reminded me of their sacrifice and dedication to God and country.
 Loved the entire day!
 At the welcome center.
 Climbing on the armored trucks.

 With our armored truck guides.
At the museum, our quickest stop. Full of wax figures and "spoils of war" from different eras.
Lunch in the mess hall...I mean dining facility. Super affordable and good. The solider on the right was our tour guide for the day, Sergeant McKenzie. He was a scout too and was wonderful with the kids.
At the medical helicopters going over their equipment.
Inside the bird. The kids carried that injured body in the helicopter. It was 250 lbs!
 Driver's seat.
With our emergency helicopter guides. I thought this was the coolest part of the tour!

On the trains that move military equipment around for both the Marines and Fort Irwin. They let all the kids DRIVE the trains too! Very cool.

That is so cool!!!!!! I wish I could have gone on a tour! :D Reading this post and seeing those pictures made me think of how grateful I am for all those that serve for this country, like Bippe and Dad and my father-in-law and brother-in-law. It makes me choke up a little to think about it, and I bet those soldiers had just as much fun with the scouts as the scouts had with them! What a great way to break up some of the monotony of their schedules (something I have heard my brother-in-law complain about). Next, you guys should go to San Diego to tour a ship in the Navy! :D

That is so awesome! I wish I did stuff like that while I was in scouts. How great it is, and I'm sure those there that day appreciated everything, on both sides. Did you coordinate setting the tour up, Magi? What an awesome idea!

And don't ever apologize for posting!
