So..... I have a question for all you moms (well I guess anyone can share their opinion). This is my dilemma: To put Bailey to sleep I swaddle her and giver her a pacifier. Up until a couple days ago she was sleeping in a bassinet by our bed. So she sleeps 11 hours at night but partly because every time she stirs I quickly reach over and put her pacifier back in her mouth. I just moved her over to her crib in Rachel's room to sleep at night and I still swaddle her and giver her a pacifier. Well, she is getting too big for the swaddling blankets and usually wiggles her arms out in the night which wakes her up. Then she needs the paci to go back to sleep. So I wake up hearing her crying and go in to rewrap her and give her the paci. she then wants to stay awake and play because she sees me (where as before it was just my arm reaching over the side of the bassinet). This happens several times a night. I end up getting up with her at 3am to give her a bottle which puts her back to sleep. I've tried putting her to bed without the swaddling blanket a few times when she was in our room but she seemed to wake up more often without it. Since her arms were free she would yank the paci out and not know how to put it back in.
So my question is how do I get her to sleep through the night not needing to be swaddled or have a pacifier? Do I let her cry it out? it breaks my heart to let her cry for more than 10 minutes. Thanks for your help!
