Palladium Open House

We just took a trip up to Michigan to go to a Palladium Books Open house.  (That is the company that makes all the books for the game Scott plays.)

We stopped by Aaron and Shannon's place on the way up to Mom and Dad's since we have to pass through their town and it was a great break.  Becca and Elizabeth loved doing experiments with dry ice with Aaron while Jacob and Sarah loved playing on their Wii.  Scott was able to take a bit of a nap and then we were off to Mom and Dads.  We spent two nights and one day there, and I'm very sad to say that I never got my camera out.  Sorry.  We left the girls there with Mom and Dad and took Jacob with us up to Michigan to Mark and Van's house, where once again, I never got my camera out.  Mark and Van did take a video of Jacob and Kelsey doing a violin duet, though, so you can expect to see that here soon.  (hint, hint, wink, wink.)  The warehouse where the open house was is only 20 minutes away from Mark's house.  It is perfect.  We saved on hotel costs and got to visit family!
This is a picture with us and the creator of Palladium Books.  We got to play a game with him and it was a blast.  Scott can now cross one thing off his bucket list.
They have a costume contest on Saturday.  We were able to take Kelsey with us to it and I think she had fun.  Jacob was a "Super Speedy" super hero and Scott was an Elemental Fusionist.  Scott did a whole show where he had one glove that lit on fire and one that made water in a jar glow and then he combined them so that the water was on fire.  It was really cool and Scott won first in his division and Jacob won second in his.
I didn't win anything with my costume, but I think it would have been unfair for all three of us to win and the other two were much flashier.  I already have ideas for next my next costume (if they have another open house) in two years.

Oh, and our whole family made it into Kevin's (the creator guy) Open House recap. It is pretty cool.  Here is the link if you want to read it.  It is under the title,

Great costumes! That is so fun that the family made it in the article about the open house! Glad you had a nice time.

Such fun costumes! I think you should have not had the Levi's on under your loin cloth! That would have been awesome!

Tom - the costumes were all based on art published in the various game books, so we tried to get them as close to the pictures as possible. Unfortunately the picture of my character clearly shows him wearing pants under the loin cloth. I know, I know, I wanted to be hanging free in the breeze too, but... (or was that butt...)

Heather-weather - I will have you know that I contributed some to Jacob's costume (I bought the boots and made the belt buckle, not to mention helped pick out the overall color scheme), I contributed a lot to Gwen's costume (made the entire rifle, the greaves, and the vambraces; painted the pistols and goggles, tinted the goggles, altered and painted the sword, and helped pick out the colors for the bandanna and pants) and made almost all of my own costume as well (Gwen made the pouches, trimmed the fake beard and made the mustache). You have a talented brother as well as sister in law, you know! In fact I'm put out with Gwen hogging all the glory here!!!

Heather-weather - sorry if my post above came across as rude - I put in a note about how it was a joke/supposed to be read with a huffy tone of voice, but apparently I used the wrong type of brackets and that whole section got deleted. Hope you didn't think I was actually that much of a jerk!
